FAQs

How many mentoring sessions do I need?

This varies from trainee to trainee depending on your starting point, confidence level, and how much time you have before your exam date. Many trainees see good progress after just a few sessions, but we can agree a plan together after our initial session that works for your needs.

What happens in a session?

Each session is a 1-to-1 (or small group) online consultation practice, focused on real exam-style scenarios. Usually we will go through two cases and you'll get direct, specific feedback on your consultation technique, structure, and areas to improve, plus practical tips you can apply straight away.

How much does mentoring cost?

Please see the booking page for current pricing.

Do you offer group sessions?

Yes — alongside 1-to-1 mentoring, group sessions are available for trainees who prefer to practise and learn alongside peers, at a lower cost per person.

How is this different from an SCA exam course?

Unlike a generic course, mentoring is personalised to you — sessions focus on your specific weak points and consultation style, with direct feedback from an experienced GP trainer rather than a one-size-fits-all approach.

Do I need any equipment for online sessions?

Just a stable internet connection and a device with a camera and microphone (laptop, tablet, or smartphone). Sessions run via Google Meet and a joining link is sent ahead of time.

How soon before my exam should I book?

The earlier the better so there's time to work through multiple sessions and build on feedback! That said, focused last-minute sessions can still be valuable if you're booking closer to the date.
