Supporting GP Trainees to Excel Since 2015
Dr Simon Mathieson
Background
I’ve been passionate about medical education from early in my career and have spent more than a decade supporting GP trainees to develop the confidence, communication skills and clinical approach needed to thrive in General Practice and succeed in their exams.
Alongside over ten years as a GP Trainer, I hold a Postgraduate Certificate in Medical Education from the University of Winchester and have held senior educational roles including Training Programme Director and Associate Director for our local VTS and Chair of the Trainers’ Workshop. I have supported both UK-trained doctors and International Medical Graduates, helping trainees build the consultation and communication skills needed to perform at their best in high-stakes assessments such as the SCA.

My mentoring style is supportive, practical and tailored to the individual — focused not just on passing exams, but on becoming a confident, effective GP.
Sessions are designed to focus on your needs personally. I'll explore where you are in your journey and what your concerns may be focussing on a bespoke plan to help you gain confidence in your consulting skills and prepare effectively for the SCA.
